Al-Ansar-Medina (SBL) added to their roster 33-year old American point guard Jawan Davis (184cm-83kg-1989, college: Claflin, agency: Interperformances), he already played his first game with team against Al Taawon and recorded 24pts 3rebs and 1 assist. Davis played last season at Ereliai Mazeikiai in Lithuanian NKL league. In 15 games he recorded 12.0ppg, 2.0rpg and 3.5apg.
He is quite experienced player. Thanks to Davis' pro career he managed to play on five different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa and of course North America) in fifteen different countries. Davis has played previously professionally in Colombia (Cafeteros), Cyprus (Koop Spor), France (Kaysersberg), Hungary (Hubner Nyiregyhaza BS), Mexico (Ostioneros de Guaymas), Montenegro (Ibar), Morocco (FUS Rabat), Qatar (Al Khor), Serbia (KK Napredak Rubin Krusevac), Slovenia (Terme Olimia), Ukraine (Polytechnic), Czech Republic (Kolin), Dominican Republic (Soles) and Egypt (Al Geish and Al Ittisalat). His team won SAC Regular Season in 2008 and 2009. He was voted Defensive Player of the Year Team back in 2009 and 2010.
Davis graduated from Claflin University in 2011 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season as a professional player.
The scouts decsribe him following way: Jawan is a tough natural Leader PG with high basketball IQ making him a great floor general. He has blazing speed/quickness making him always an offensive threat and is known for being a defensive stopper. On offense he uses speed for change of direction, mismatches for slower players to create any shot, and puts pressure on defense with fast break situations. On defense he uses this to harass players, be pesky getting numerous steals & disrupting offense with full court pressure every play. Shoots the 3 really well from any situation and is great with making plays from pick and roll. Mid range is his best game. Plays with passion and heart while being a true professional with work ethic every day.
